We are now into the third week of Trump’s government shutdown. With no end in sight, it could be the longest in history, and the one filled with the most lies ever told by a sitting president.
One of the most ridiculous claims he’s made to try and keep his base with him during this nightmare was on Friday during an hour-long press conference in the White House Rose Garden. During that press conference, Trump actually had the audacity to say that the former presidents have personally told him they agree with his ridiculous border wall.
‘”This should have been done by all of the presidents that preceded me and they all know it,” Trump said. “Some of them have told me that we should have done it.”’

The trouble with that comment? I guess Trump forgot that there are four former presidents still living, who all seem to be in agreement that he’s full of crap.
According to The Daily Mail:
‘Angel Urena, a spokesman for Bill Clinton, quickly came out affirming the 42nd President had never told Trump anything to that effect. “In fact, they’ve not talked since the inauguration,” Urena said.
‘Freddy Ford, a spokesman for George W. Bush, followed suit and said the former President had never discussed such a thing with Trump.
‘A spokesman for Barack Obama declined to provide new comment but pointed to a pertinent May 2016 remark from the 44th President: “The world is more interconnected than ever before, and it’s becoming more connected every day. Building walls won’t change that.”
‘Finally, former President Jimmy Carter came out Monday rejecting Trump’s claim.
‘“I have not discussed the border wall with President Trump, and do not support him on the issue,” Carter said in a statement.’
The White House has not officially commented on Trump’s claims or the statements made by the former presidents and their staff, but on Sunday CNN’s Jake Tapper spoke to Trump’s acting Chief of Staff, Mick Mulvaney.
When Tapper asked who Trump was talking about, Mulvaney said, “I have no idea.”
