Donald Trump should be afraid of the freshman Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, very afraid. The youngest woman to ever reach the House of Representatives blasted onto the political scene, leaping from her server job to one of the most prestigious jobs in the country. A poll that is favorable to POTUS came up with some startling results.

Only one-in-three American voters gave the young representative a favorable opinion rating in the latest Trump-friendly Rasmussen Reports survey. However, if she was old enough to run for president of these United States in 2020, she could be a formidable opponent and possible winner. Unfortunately, Ocasio-Cortez, 28, will not be old enough to run then. A person must be 35 to run for president of the U.S.

The Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey showed that if the presidential race was Ocasio-Cortez against Trump, 43 percent of “Likely U.S. Voters” would cast their vote for the president. The new representative would pull in a healthy 40 percent of those same voters. Those three percentage points separating the two might be chalked up to her lack of name recognition among some parts of the population. At this time, a large number of likely voters, 17 percent, said that they were undecided.

The government shutdown of 800,000 of its employees is entering its fourth week and the U.S. economy dropped half of a percentage point as a result. People blame Trump. Other Americans have been feeling the effects of the shutdown, too. Parks are closed. People cannot get passports. The airport lines are horrendous, and the list goes on.

Rasmussen Reports interviewed a large sampling of 1,000 likely voters between January 10 and January 13 of this years. Pulse Opinion Research, LLC conducted the surveys for all Rasmussen Reports. The margin of error was +/- 3 percentage points.
