Even Donald Trump is at a loss as to how to cover up and deflect from the flood of news reports showing his administration and cohorts to be dishonest, incompetent, ignorant, and even criminal. On Thursday, his first tweet of the day showed him to be at a loss for words, even for his regular litany of insults, bragging, or wild lies.
Trump has made no secret of his desperate wish to build a border wall at a time when he really needs a win to appease his rabid fanbase. Thankfully, cooler heads have denied him that ability to waste five billion dollars in American taxpayer funding on an unnecessary and ineffective border wall that would require stealing land from American citizens and caving to his dictatorial demands. As Trump continues to learn that a U.S. president is not just given his way because he demands it, the scandals and stories of criminal activity continue to pile up.
Meanwhile, American workers are suffering without pay and the economy is beginning to feel the sting. Trump can blame Democrats for that all he likes, but no one has forgotten his pledge to do exactly what’s being done and proudly, to “take the mantle” on the shutdown, and polls show that voters aren’t changing their minds on who started this whole mess in the first place.
