Rudy Giuliani is not, in any sense of the word, actually representing Donald Trump in the Russian collusion case. What he is doing is talking about the Russian collusion case on television every time Trump allows him to, and he’s not even doing that well.

In an appearance on Meet the Press on Sunday morning, Giuliani answered questions about the obstruction of justice investigation against the president. One of the pieces being explored is Trump’s former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen’s claims that everything he did for Trump for which he’ll now serve prison time was at the direction of Trump himself.
On Friday, Buzzfeed published a story that’s now under debate that said Trump instructed Cohen to lie to Congress about Trump’s business dealings with Russia during the 2016 presidential campaigns, the ones Trump swore he didn’t have.
‘I can tell you his counsel to Michael Cohen throughout that entire period was, ‘Tell the truth.’ We thought he was telling the truth. I still believe he may have been telling the truth when he testified before Congress.’

If Giuliani were correct and Cohen had been telling the truth all along, either to Congress or to Special Counsel Robert Mueller, he would not now be facing jail time.
Giuliani also insisted that Trump’s conversation with FBI Director James Comey, a conversation Trump insisted many times he never had, does not constitute obstruction of justice because he said “please.”

There is no provision in the legal definition of obstruction of justice that threats of bodily harm must be present.

Giuliani also mentioned that obstruction of justice can include threats to a witness’s family members. Before he made that statement, he should have probably checked Trump’s Twitter timeline.
