California Finds Loophole To Pay During Gov’t Shutdown & Trump Is Raging

Donald Trump has set a new record as his government shutdown, over a wall only he and the worst of his base want, is now entering its fourth week. This shutdown is now the longest in US history.

Almost 1 million people are living and working without pay, and despite pressure from both parties, Trump isn’t budging. He’s refusing to end this shutdown and holding the country hostage for $5 billion, all the while blaming the Democrats for it. What makes this worse is that his basket of deplorables is buying every single word he says.

So what are people supposed to do while they’re working or furloughed without pay? The administration doesn’t seem to care, and has made outrageous suggestions about ways to pay the bills — have garage sales, do odd jobs, bargain with landlords, walk dogs… It’s disgusting! To make matters worse, Trump has also informed several states, including California, that they are not allowed to pay federal employees unemployment benefits while they work without pay.

But California Governor, Gavin Newsom, has refused to take “no” for an answer and intends to pay unemployment benefits anyway, no matter what Trump says.

According to NPR:

‘California Gov. Gavin Newsom says the Trump administration has told states they can’t offer unemployment benefits to federal employees who are required to report to work without pay during the government shutdown.

Newsom called a letter sent to states by the U.S. Department of Labor “jaw-dropping and extraordinary” as he met with TSA workers at the Sacramento International Airport Thursday afternoon.’

Newsom told workers and reporters:

‘So, the good news is, we’re going to do it, and shame on them.’

One TSA agent, Miguel Pagarigan, expressed his extreme frustration with the shutdown stating he’s even had to put a for sale sign on his house. Pararigan said:

‘Because of the shutdown and being furloughed — or basically, not being paid — I had to put a ‘for sale’ sign on my house on Sunday.’

Trump is losing his grasp on his so-called “presidency” little by little each day. If he doesn’t reopen the government and stop his ridiculous demands for a wall we don’t need or want, he may lose more than just voters.
