Trump Finishes Watching Sunday TV, Gets Online & Tweets Gibberish Nonsense To America

President Donald Trump may have finally agreed to reopen the federal government without the billions of dollars in funding for a border wall that he wanted — but that doesn’t mean he’s backed off from his previous positions. This weekend on Twitter, he spent hours again trumpeting his familiar lines to the world.

In his view — and this is a quote, not a stretch — he’s done more in his first two years in office than any other administration in American history, offering evidence like that NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg acknowledged member countries were taking the president’s calls for more defense spending (which they were adding already) to heart.

Seemingly in desperate need of an ego boost even with that continued claim, Trump retweeted some random Twitter user this weekend who called him “strong.” That’s just not something many would hope a president of the United States who has responsibilities beyond his ego would spend their time doing — but here we are.

Twitter user @ChatByCC proclaimed:

‘Strong people stand up for themselves—but stronger people stand up for others. Thank you President Donald Trump for standing up for America.’

He offered other retweets this weekend too of public figures pushing some of his familiar, and baseless claims, like that the bulk of the mainstream media is the “enemy of the people.”

He promoted a claim that tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants have voted just in Texas, retweeting a misleadingly slanted statement from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to that effect despite the actual facts of the situation.

In reality, during authorities’ review of records, they found some 95,000 people who may have not been citizens when they got identification that could be used to vote and are also registered to vote.

That’s not a confirmation that tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants voted in American elections. Trump used the claim in service of his push against immigrants, however, riling up his base no matter the facts.

Similarly, he shared a clip of an appearance his longtime adviser Kellyanne Conway made on Fox recently, where she noted the magnitude of the illegal drug trade that utilizes the southern United States border for transport.

The Trump team refused to go along with any further government funding for over a month because they wanted billions for a wall to supposedly stifle that drug trade — but what neither Conway nor the president mentioned is that most of the drugs come smuggled through legal ports of entry.

Their platform just keeps falling apart.
