Donald Trump has proven time and again that his opinions of others are based solely on their willingness to praise him publicly. Former chief of staff John was a fantastic guy until he dared speak out against the president. Even James Mattis and Rex Tillerson, who Trump praised generously when he appointed them, became “lazy” and “weird” after they were no longer willing to toe his line.
Then, pundits on Fox News whose names are neither Chris Wallace nor Shep Smith dared pointing out the truth about Trump’s government shutdown: he got nothing after holding American workers hostage for 35 days.
Suddenly, the network that has served as his state-run media outlet throughout his presidency is as bad as CNN and NBC. In other words, everyone is wrong about pretty much everything except Donald Trump. This is how far he’s willing to go.
For record, Trump’s poll numbers are also not “good.” They’re disastrous.
‘Trump hit his highest disapproval on record in the Morning Consult poll, at 57 percent. CBS found 59 percent disapproval. In the AP-NORC poll, Trump’s approval tanked from 42 percent a month ago to 34 percent.’
Most interestingly, his poll numbers are low in different areas than they were before the shutdown. Now, it’s his base that is starting to walk away.
‘In the Politico/Morning Consult poll, Trump’s disapproval increased among evangelicals, non-college-educated voters, and those who voted for Trump in 2016, compared with a poll in early January.’
