Why does Donald Trump have such an obsession with his predecessor? The sitting president replaced President Barack Obama two years ago, yet Trump continues to find ways to attack Obama. POTUS has even been trying to dismantle all the other president accomplished. Granted, 44 deliciously enjoyed joking about 45 at a Correspondent’s Dinner, but Trump got even — he won the election. Here is what the man sitting in the Oval Office just did.
It seems that Trump has a habit of giving spontaneous tours of the White House, hundreds of them, according to former aide and author of Team of Vipers Cliff Sims. Early on, he came out from behind a screen as a group of school children toured the people’s house. He scared them so badly that they screamed.
During more recent tours, the commander-in-chief told his guests that Obama used to watch basketball games in the presidents’ private dining room just off of the Oval Office. Trump told them that Obama:
‘He just sat in here and watched basketball all day.’
This was an odd claim from a man who has watched up to eight hours of television a day. Trump must be projecting. After all, the newest president took Obama’s more modest television out of the private dining room and replaced it with a far larger flat-screen television.
POTUS has no evidence to support his criticism of Obama. Projection means that a person assumes that others do what they do. It is an inability to understand how another might be experiencing an event, even life in general.
Recent reports say that Trump rarely comes down from his private quarters before 11:00 a.m. (EST). Sometimes, he appears as late as 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Prior to those hours, the president watches television and sends out his morning tweets. Conversely, Obama was nearly always downstairs and hard at work before 10:00 in the morning.
After Trump appears, he watches more television on his “Super TiVo” television system. He often dines with others and gives them tours of the White House. It was during one of those tours that the president criticized Obama, but he was not finished.
POTUS offers his impromptu tours for members of Congress, his friends, and even strangers. When they arrived at his private dining room, Trump pointed out that Obama left the dining room in “rough shape.” He said there was even a hole in the wall, when he took office.
Naturally, the newly installed president had to decorate the rooms with his golden touch. Trump also thought that the West Wing offices and bathrooms did not meet his gold standard. As a result, he had them completely renovated. During the construction, Trump maintained a tight control.
The president’s tours run to the crude and lascivious. Offering his biggest grin, Trump takes his friends to the location where President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky reportedly had sex. In 2017, he told a television anchor:
‘I’m told this is where Bill and Monica . . .’
Then, he interrupted himself. On a recent tour, Trump took people to the same location in the White House and said:
‘We’ve remodeled it since then.’
Other people have confirmed that the president repeated similar inappropriate comments about President Clinton. Then, Trump laughs and makes faces. Sometime, he leads his guests on a tour with a long, vulgar monologue, according to an aide.
