GOP Rep. Shows Disdain For Muslim Colleague – She Thrashes Him

He just revealed himself as a racist, biased against religions other than vanilla American. The New York congressman referred to one of his Democratic colleagues as “what” rather than “who.” Then, Representative Lee Zeldin (R-NY) made his comment even worse.

Zeldin just could not bear it when freshmen Representative Ilhan Omar was selected to sit on the House Foreign Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. Come to think of it, it’s “crazy to watch what House” Republicans “are empowering/elevating” to ranking committee of that committee:

‘Was just selected as Ranking Member of the @HouseForeign Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations! Just learned Freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar was also put on this committee w oversight of US foreign policy. Crazy to watch what House Dems are empowering/elevating.’

Omar answered him with class and dignity. She captured the beauty of her moment by pointing out that Republican men are just “waking up” to Muslim women standing “up to bullies:

‘Don’t mind him, he is just waking up to the reality of having Muslim women as colleagues who know how to stand up to bullies! It’s gonna be fun watching him lose his marbles.’😜

Zeldin must have been looking for an argument, because he tweeted saying Omar had “anti-semitic & anti-Israel hate” and favored “ISIS fighters & Palestinian terrorists:”

‘Those poor innocent ISIS fighters & Palestinian terrorists right? Give me a break! That’s a problem no matter your religion or gender Ilhan. Your anti-Semitic & anti-Israel hate is strong & wrong & those terrorists have US blood on their hands as well.’

Zeldin sounded as if he had hatred running through his veins as he made wild assumptions about his colleague. Omar is a groundbreaker. She was the first Somali American elected to Congress, first of two Muslim women, first to wear a hijab, and first Minnesota representative woman of color.
