Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has already made herself well-known as one of the newest members of Congress. She has received quite a bit of criticism from both Republicans and Democrats because of how outspoken she has been about the poor, the working class, and taxing the wealthy.
On Tuesday morning, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted her feelings about Mr. Trump’s scheduled State of the Union address in one simple reply to CNN. CNN’s tweet read:
‘What to watch for in 2019’s State of the Union’
Ocasio-Cortez’ simple reply went viral:
‘None of it!’
The freshman Congresswoman also tweeted about her excitement to hear Democrat Stacey Abram’s rebuttal to Trump’s speech, saying:
‘I’m so excited for
@staceyabrams, and I’m excited for all of us – it’s a blessing to hear her insight every time.’
Abrams made history as the first black woman to become a major nominee for governor in the United States. She was defeated in November by Republican Brian Kemp.
Here’s what Twitter had to say to Ocasio-Cortez:
Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) will also give remarks prior to the president’s speech. Harris tweeted:
‘It’s critical we speak truth to the American people during this inflection moment in our country’s history.’
Harris’ office has said that her remarks “will push back on the President’s expected message of division, highlight the importance of speaking truth, and outline her vision for a country that works for all its people.”
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) also plans to give a rebuttal following Mr. Trump’s speech.
