Despite some reports and leaks, it is unimaginable what working for Donald Trump in the White House is like. We’ve heard the leaks that have come from within, but it’s still unbelievable just what people have to go through to work in what is supposed to be the most prestigious job in the country.
However, Vanity Fair attempted to give readers an idea after reporting staffers in the White House are burnt out, miserable, and now hate Trump.
Vanity Fair described Trump as “stoked” after he gave his rambling diatribe of a State of the Union speech; however, the morale inside the White House is lower than low. Apparently, staffers actually see Trump as the problem.
Comments from former West Wing officials included:
‘Trump is hated by everyone inside the White House.’
‘It’s total misery. People feel trapped.’
‘Trump always needs someone to blame.’
But, what’s causing the discontent? Apparently, Trump ignores his educated advisers and consults mostly with his daughter Ivanka and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.
‘This is a family affair, and if you’re not in the family, you’ve got problems.’
Someone with close ties to Trump’s newest acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney commented:
‘Mick is not entirely thrilled with the family.’
How many chiefs of staff would that make now? We’ve lost count at this point.
Apparently, Mulvaney is attempting to persuade Trump into actually compromising on border wall funds so that the government will not go into another shutdown. However, we all know Trump is hellbent on getting $5 billion for a wall that will do little.
‘One source briefed on the internal debate said that Mulvaney is advising Trump to accept less than his demand of $5 billion and make up the difference by shuffling money around the existing budget. “Mick wants to re-program existing funds,” the source said. Trump has insisted he won’t compromise, but he faces no good options, with a G.O.P. revolt likely if he goes the national-emergency route. “Trump is going to declare whatever happens a victory,” a former West Wing official said.’
No matter what Mulvaney tries to convince Trump of, it won’t happen. The fact is Trump absolutely has to deliver the wall with no appearance of compromise with the evil liberals. When it did appear he would possibly compromise, right-wing extremists like Anne Coulter and Alex Jones cried foul and rallied up Trump’s more extreme base.
Trump has backed himself into a corner with the wall issue and because of this, his White House staff has to suffer his temper tantrums, his idiocy, and try to make up for them when there’s little they can do. Additionally, it’s a slap in the face when you are a staffer and you have to work for no pay because Trump shuts the government down with his own BS.
Trump’s ruining something that people previously respected. Many considered it an honor to go into the public sector. It was something they considered a calling and a service to their own country. Many in the White House could be doing any other job and making much more. However, they chose to move into government because of their beliefs.
But, it’s hard to feel sorry for them when there were so many warning signs and warnings from former employees of Trump.
