According to a new poll out by Gallup, Michelle Obama was ranked as the Most Admired Woman per polling from Americans in 2018, ending Hillary Clinton’s 17-year streak of claiming the top of the polling organization’s list.
Conducted December 3-12 and consisting of 1,025 adults, respondents were asked what man or woman, living today anywhere in the world, they admire most.
For his 11th year in a row, Barack Obama topped the list, who beat Donald Trump, who came in second place. While most may think 2nd place isn’t ‘so bad’ for a current president, here’s some perspective; Out of 72 total polls, only 13 times in history has the sitting president not won. Ouch.
Per the poll, Obama won the top spot among Democrats and Independents, while Republican respondents overwhelmingly preferred Trump.
Of the most admired men who appeared on the list, also present were former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, Bill Gates and Elon Musk. Bernie Sanders as well as Joe Biden, Mike Pence, Pope Francis, and the Dalai Lama also charted.
Other top women included Oprah Winfrey, Melania Trump, Angela Merkel, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Ellen DeGeneres, and Nancy Pelosi.
While this polling seems gracious, it is ultimately another loss for Team Trump. And the whole world knows how much it must irk Trump, being constantly reminded about the Ghosts of President’s Past.
