The far-right wing does not like the youngest woman to be elected to the House of Representatives. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) (D-NY) showed off an intelligent wit when she caught the Sinclair Broadcast Group’s chief political analyst Boris Epshteyn tripping over his “own wires.”

Sinclair has been having some troubles with the former Trump administration communications adviser and ultra-pro-Trump supporter. Now, we can see why.

The joke was on Epshteyn for his tweet about Ocasio-Cortez. She pointed out that Epshteyn was so “”eager to smear” her that he mistakenly cited a “parody account” for “supporting evidence:”

‘The right is so eager to smear that they end up tripping over the(ir) own wires all the time. Here, the Chief Political Analyst for Sinclair Broadcasting earnestly cites a *parody account* as supporting evidence for his bogus argument. Misinformation spreads like this regularly.’

‘Sinclair Broadcast Group’s Chief Political Analyst Boris Epshteyn is trying to argue with an @AOC parody account.’

A self-described progressive activist caught the right-wing analyst “trying to argue” with the “parody account:”

In November 2018, Sinclair sent out a tweet from its corporate account stating that Epshteyn was on his own:

‘The opinions expressed in this segment do not reflect the views of Sinclair Broadcast Group.’

It was highly unusual, but Sinclair distanced itself from Epshteyn’s very conservative opinions. Not only that, Sinclair did not even mention which of its political analysts’ commentaries it chose not to support. Did that mean Epshteyn’s employer was withdrawing all of its support for him?

That is hard to say given that Sinclair labels his pieces as “must-runs.” That means that any Sinclair-owned station has to air them during the local news broadcasts. This makes a strong point for regulating corporate ownership of local broadcast entities.
