It is one thing for Donald Trump to make up things — for example crowd sizes. Then, he has a whole network behind him to encourage those lies. POTUS went to El Paso, TX for a roaring 2020 presidential campaign rally to compete against a former representative who lost in the midterm senate race. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) and Trump had dueling rallies with this amazing result.
The president said that he had 35,000 people at his rally after he went to the fire department and asked for an exception to the crowd size. The El Paso fire department said, no that was not true. Trump said that he had 10,000 people waiting outside and could not get in. Again, not true. Trump said that O’Rourke had 65 people at his rally, and you got it — another lie. Yet, his right-wing media buddies cheered:
‘It was 45 degrees outside and this was the overflow crowd. ‘

‘We are fighting for all Americans, from all backgrounds, of every age, race, religion, birthplace, color & creed. Our agenda is NOT a partisan agenda – it is the mainstream, common sense agenda of the American People. Thank you El Paso, Texas – I love you! ‘

In reality, the two men had audiences approximately the same size. O’Rourke brought in 8,000 people according to the police count. Trump had 6,500 inside and others waiting outside for a grand total of 10,000-12,000 comers.
