It’s no secret that President Donald Trump has long sought a border wall blocking off Mexico, and he’s willing to do close to anything get it at this point — including completely abandoning reality. He shared a video on Twitter this Thursday of already in-place border fence repair that was undertaken in late January and proclaimed — in all caps, for some reason:

No, it’s not.
Trump has spent months — and even years — insisting on a very specific proposal of a new, formidable concrete barrier along the United States’ border with Mexico to address the supposed crisis wrought by undocumented immigration between ports of entry.
Comparatively only very recently, Trump adopted the idea that “the wall” could be made out of steel slats, which he’s claimed that Democrats were keen on despite it being unclear who or what he was talking about at the time.
This apparent replacement effort for already in-place border fence he touted this wee doesn’t even constitute the steel slat version of “the wall” that Trump claimed would be “beautiful.” It’s not anything new at all, although the president has a new slogan to go along with it anyway — “Finish the wall!”
“Repair and replace the fence!” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
The president’s team has pushed the line that “the wall” is already under construction when it’s not before. After a portion of fencing was updated along the Californian border with Mexico, even Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen participated in the placement of a commemorative plaque claiming the spot to be the beginning of President Donald Trump’s border wall.
The issues in the Trump administration making up “the wall” where it simply doesn’t exist don’t even cover the blatantly baseless claims they continue to push about in reality non-existent high crime rates associated with undocumented immigration in the first place.
