There’s a new investigator in town, and Trump is not happy. Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA), the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence announced that he has brought in former mob prosecutor Daniel Goldman as the committee’s senior adviser and director of investigations. According to Adam Schiff, Goldman was one of a several new people brought in to help “ensure the security of our country and its institutions.”
‘I am excited to announce the recent addition of a number of capable individuals to the HPSCI leadership team, as we continue our important work of strong and effective oversight of the nation’s intelligence agencies. I look forward to working with them to perform important oversight and investigative work to ensure the security of our country and its institutions’
The hiring highlights Schiff’s determination not to back down from the investigation into Trump’s shady dealings with Russia.
Goldman, formerly deputy chief of the organized-crime section of the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office, has plenty of experience dealing with the Russian mob. In the course of his duties, he oversaw the prosecution of more than 30 defendants in Russian mob cases, running the gamut from gambling and money laundering to racketeering. Since these are some of the crimes Trump is alleged to have been involved in with various Russian “businessmen,” Goldman’s experience will no doubt be very useful.
Schiff’s House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence investigation is only one of many plaguing the president. It centers on five basic issues; Russian interference and related issues, coordination between the Trump campaign and Moscow, whether foreign powers have leverage over Trump or his associates or have tried to gain such leverage, whether Trump or any of his associates were or are under the influence of foreign powers, whether Trump or any of his associates were or are trying to obstruct, impede, or otherwise interfere with the investigations.
Naturally, Trump has denied the accusations. Of course, he also denies that his orange glow, with pale circles around the eyes is the result of spray tanning, insisting it is simply “good genes.”
Like every other report he doesn’t like, Trump insists all of the various investigations, despite the numerous convictions, are nothing but a massive, politically driven “witch hunt. Actual witches dispute his claims:
Representative Schiff doesn’t seem concerned by the vehement denials. He, like Mueller and the rest of those working to shine a light on Team Trump’s actions both leading up to, and after the election.
