Donald Trump’s morning tweets talk about his budget. He added some sweetening to his wickedly unfair proposed budget. His daughter Ivanka Trump has been big on increasing the child tax credit, so that looks possible. Then, the president decided to point out how he was making history in the upcoming budget.
GOP Chair Ronna McDaniel posted a tweet that POTUS decided to retweet. She said that he “made history” with a “national paid family leave proposal.” What did 45 mean when he sent out a tweet talking about the leave “proposal:”
@realDonaldTrump made history by including a national paid family leave proposal in a presidential budget. This investment in affordable childcare that @IvankaTrump has led on builds on successes like doubling the child tax credit. More results for working families!’
That was enough sweetening. Trump got right down to naming three women killed by undocumented immigrants or as the president likes to say “illegal aliens:”
‘Kate Steinle. Sarah Root. Grant Ronnebeck. We willl no longer be bystanders to these crimes committed by illegal aliens.
Then, Trump urged Republicans to fund his wall, telling them to “get tough:”
‘Republican Senators have a very easy vote this week. It is about Border Security and the Wall (stopping Crime, Drugs etc.), not Constitutionality and Precedent. It is an 80% positive issue. The Dems are 100% United, as usual, on a 20% issue, Open Borders and Crime. Get tough R’s!’
The president’s budget will cut $2.7 trillion to pay for his billionaire tax cuts, according to The Washington Examiner. It also hands him $8.7 billion for his border wall.
Acting Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought released a statement:
‘In the last two, President Trump and this administration have prioritized reining in reckless Washington spending. The budget that we have presented to Congress and the American people, ‘A Budget for a Better America,’ embodies fiscal responsibility, and takes aim at Washington’s waste, fraud, and abuse.’
Since he became president, the national debt skyrocketed another $2 trillion for a grand total of $22+ trillion. Trump believes he can balance the budget in 15 years by taking more from the vast majority of people — not the rich. Most people will not like it.
