BREAKING: Mass Shooting Hits Two Different Mosques – Multiple Dead

A mass shooting has taken place in two separate mosques, and at least one of the shooter’s is in custody as of Thursday night. The shooting took place in Christchurch, New Zealand Friday morning as Juma services were underway at the Masjid Al Noor mosque. The other location has not yet been named.

According to the head of the Federation of Islamic Federations of New Zealand, 300-500 people were expected to be in attendance for the Friday services, and reports coming from survivors say that many people are dead.

According to Commissioner Mike Bush:

“This afternoon we are dealing with a very serious and tragic series of events… they involve an active shooter, they involve multiple fatalities. We have one person in custody but we are unsure if there are other people.”

He continued:

“We are unsure if there are any other areas … that are under threat. I want to ask anyone that was thinking of going to a mosque anywhere in New Zealand today not to go, to close your doors, until you hear from us again.”

A person inside the mosque at the time of the shooting reported:

“He had a big gun and a lot of bullets and he came through and started shooting like everyone in the mosque, like everywhere, and they have to smash the door and the glass from the window and from the small door to try and get out.”
