Republicans have been attacking The Affordable Care Act since it was announced. They even went as far as to try and stigmatize it by branding it ‘Obamacare. Not only did that not work, but it actually gave America’s first black president credit for one of the most successful healthcare programs the country has ever seen.
Currently, the Department of Justice has an ongoing lawsuit to try to put an end to the ACA, and Democrats are pulling out the big guns to try to stop that from happening. Millions of Americans would suffer from the sudden despair that ending Obamacare would bring.
Democrats are now trying to block the Department of Justice from using federal funds to fight the court battle.
Chuck Schumer had this to say:
“The Department of Justice’s decision is a moral and institutional outrage, outrage. Not only would it harm Americans, it would undermine the rule of law.”
Republicans have introduced no plans for a replacement if they were to get Obamacare repealed, which is the exact reason John McCain voted against it before he died. A move that earned him an enemy who would badmouth him far after he had died.
Trump said this about the repeal:
“If the Supreme Court rules that ObamaCare is out, we’ll have a plan that is far better than ObamaCare.”
And that’s it, folks. That’s the big plan. Schumer continued:
“Let’s see if all our Republican colleagues who have said they don’t want to take away protections for pre-existing conditions, who said they don’t want to take away health care for millions … let’s see how our Republican colleagues vote on this.”
