Since Donald Trump has spent the majority of his presidency lying about his own criminal behavior, it’s somewhat disgusting to see him award a medal of honor to anyone. How does someone with no honor manage to even utter the word?
We are here today to award America’s highest military honor to a fallen hero who made the supreme sacrifice for our nation – Staff Sergeant Travis Atkins…https://t.co/q3J8BhRnhA

Trump needs his rabid fanbase, who talk about how much they love the military but defend the president when he disparages them and their service, to see him making a show of his own love of our service members. He needs it especially right now, with his hand-picked attorney general working overtime to keep the Mueller report from the public, and while his cuts to funding for healthcare, the Special Olympics, and abuse survivors’ services loom while his billionaire friends enjoy their tax break.
Honor is not a word that has ever described Donald Trump. Greed, avarice, petulance, and childish are better words for him. The fact that he’s even allowed to hold a medal of honor belonging to a man who died for our country, much less be the face behind the award of that medal, is appalling. The least honorable and most divisive of all presidents, who said he wasn’t “stupid” enough to go to Vietnam and whose wealthy parents paid a doctor to keep him from being drafted, has no business even looking at the faces of gold star families.
Everyone appreciates the sacrifice of Staff Sergeant Travis Atkins and mourns his loss along with his family. It’s a shame they had to be handed that award by a man for whom “honor” has no meaning.
Twitter wasn’t impressed by Trump’s show. Read some of their comments below:
