Pelosi Calls GOP’rs Demanding Schiff’s Resignation ‘Scaredy Cats’

Donald Trump and his friends in the GOP honestly believed that having their hand-picked attorney general clear Trump of criminal wrongdoing in the Mueller probe would make the president look less like a man desperate to obstruct justice. Unfortunately for them, 64 percent of the American voting public still believes Trump probably committed a crime and 75 percent believe that, at the very least, he committed serious ethical violations.

Despite this, every Republican on the House Intelligence Committee has demanded that chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) resign over his comments that collusion with the Kremlin by the Trump campaign has already been proven just in the public reporting of their actions, much less all of the things we don’t know about what’s in the Mueller report since we haven’t seen it.

Asked about those calls for Schiff’s resignation, Pelosi told reporters that:

‘They’re just plain afraid. They’re afraid of the truth. They’re afraid of competence. They’re afraid of a leader who is recognized in our country for being calm, professional, patriotic.’

The report, which has currently been seen only by Trump’s appointee, Attorney General William Barr, as well as deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and investigators on Mueller’s team, will be available only after Barr has thoroughly hidden the information he believes the public should see. The White House will also be able to hide any information they choose. This is not good enough, nor is it sitting well with the American public or Democratic lawmakers.

‘Schiff, along with the leaders of the Oversight, Judiciary, Foreign Affairs, Finance and Ways and Means Committees, has demanded that Barr make Mueller’s full report available to Congress and the public by Tuesday. If the attorney general fails to do so, the committees said they’d be willing to issue subpoenas and take the administration to court over the issue. Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said Barr would not commit to release the full report during a phone call with the attorney general on Wednesday.’

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has been on a campaign to force Schiff to resign over “conspiracy theories” that McCarthy says has been proven false. He didn’t mention anything about the hypocrisy of his statements considering that he never once demanded the resignation of Trey Gowdy from the House Oversight Committee nor Devin Nunes from the House Intelligence Committee.

‘All nine Republicans on the Intelligence Committee sent a letter to Schiff Thursday morning demanding that Schiff resign from the chairmanship, accusing him of having “abused your position to knowingly promote false information, having damaged the integrity of this Committee, and undermined faith in U.S. government institutions.’

If Republicans really want the voting public’s questions answered, the full report will be released. After all, Trump says that it “totally exonerates” him. Wouldn’t they want the public to see the proof of that?

Of course they wouldn’t, because they know that’s not true. Pelosi called them out for their fear of being exposed to voters.

‘What would be the proper adjective—shameful, sad, irresponsible—of the president of the United States and the Republicans on the Intelligence Committee to take the actions that they have? I think they’re just scaredy cats. They just don’t know what to do, so they have to make an attack. It’s their own insecurity, their own fear of the truth, their fear of the facts and their fear of an effective patriotic leader in his measured way, is going to make sure the American people know the truth.’
