In recent days, two women have come forward saying former vice president Joe Biden touched them inappropriately and make them feel uncomfortable, although neither of the incidents reported was sexual in nature.
On Tuesday, Mr. Trump spoke at a dinner for the National Republican Congressional Committee, the entity that does the fundraising for the GOP.
According to U.S. News & World Report, he made a comment referencing Biden, saying:
‘Musing on potential 2020 Democratic opponents, Trump said the only one who’s not a socialist is “being taken care of pretty well by the socialists.”‘
Trump went on to say:
‘I was going to call him and say, ‘Welcome to the world, Joe. You having a good time, Joe?”‘
U.S. News reported:
‘Two women have said Biden touched them in an overly familiar way years ago. Biden says he doesn’t believe he has acted inappropriately but will pay attention to women’s experiences.’
Trump, on the other hand, has been accused by multiple women of sexual assault and denies it. In addition, he paid off both a pornographic film actress and a Playboy centerfold to keep quiet about affairs he had with them while married.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that:
‘Joe Biden’s sometimes too-affectionate politicking style is not disqualifying for a presidential bid but she has some advice for the former vice president and potential candidate.’
Pelosi said that Biden should “Join the straight-arm club.” This means that he should keep handshakes at arms’ length and not be touchy-feely.
As she spoke to a breakfast-hour crowd in Washington, she continued, telling them:
‘(Biden) has to understand that in the world we are in now people’s space is important to them.’
Pelosi went on to say that Biden’s apologies could have been better. She said:
‘what’s important is how they receive it, not necessarily how you intended it.’
According to U.S. News & World Report:
‘Biden has been accused of being overly familiar in his dealings with women — rubbing women’s shoulders in public, kissing the back of one woman’s head, and rubbing noses with another — but not of assault or harassment.’
Bill Russo, a spokesman for Biden, blamed “right wing trolls” “for conflating images of Biden embracing colleagues and friends in his official capacity during swearing-in ceremonies with uninvited touching.”
Amy Lappos, a former aide to Democratic Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut said on Monday that Biden had acted inappropriately, touching her face with both hands and rubbing noses with her in 2009.
Prior to this, former Nevada politician Lucy Flores revealed in a magazine essay that Biden kissed her on the back of the head in 2014.
These developments have come as the former vice president intends to run for the presidency in 2020, and has caused a debate as to what challenges he might face due to these allegations.
However, no one seems to care about the laundry list of serious crimes facing the man currently in the Oval Office and the wide corruption in this administration. Once again, energies are always focused in the wrong place.
