Kellyanne Conway Humiliated On ‘Meet The Press’ After On-Air Fact Check

If it’s Sunday, it’s Meet the Press, and if the guest is Kellyanne Conway, the interview will be nothing more than attempts to deflect from the topic at hand. Chuck Todd, however, was just not having that this week.

Todd asked Conway about some of Trump’s more alarming policy moves in recent days on immigration, including a demand to move all detained undocumented immigrants to sanctuary cities and to return asylum seekers to Mexico or simply refuse them the right to apply for asylum at all.

Conway, of course, blamed Democrats, although she did give passing mention to the fact that Republicans controlled Congress for two years and didn’t fall in line with Trump’s radical, racist agenda, either.

‘We have an unserious Congress that is not coming to the table, and the Republicans failed to do their job when they were in charge, no doubt, and the Democrats now are failing to come together in the house.’

Conway then tried, with no prompting, to shift to the subject of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), the president’s new favorite target of fearmongering around her identification as a Muslim.

‘This week, you know, respectfully, from the other side you have this anti-Semitic congresswoman…’

Todd stopped her before she could take that unrelated false point further. She had not been asked about Rep. Omar and her deflection tactic wasn’t working.

‘Whoa, whoa, whoa. No, no, no. I know what you are trying to do here.’

She was trying to do the same thing she does in every interview: shift the conversation from Trump’s outrageous bumbling of a presidency to someone she knows his supporters think is worse. It’s a deflection strategy that has worked for her in the past, but the game is no longer working.

Rep. Omar is not anti-Semitic and, unlike the current president, she has never criticized Jewish people for being Jewish. She’s never tried to fearmonger around an entire religion. Trump, on the other hand, ran on a promise to ban Muslims from the country and multiple mass shootings of Jewish and Muslim people have been committed in his name.
