Trump’s Hometown Paper Releases Cover Image He Can’t Stand

Over the weekend, New York’s Daily News paper clapped-back at Trump’s meaningless “threat” of sending detained immigrants to “liberal” cities like theirs. On Friday, the doofus president doubled-down and echoed rumors that first emerged, thanks to reporting by the Washington Post last Thursday.

At first, the details were vague but still had an impact like a ton of bricks. Mostly, the move by the Trump administration was seen as a sort of juvenile “I’ll show you.”

From Washington Post:

‘“It was retaliation, to show them, ‘Your lack of cooperation has impacts,’ ” one of the Department of Homeland Security officials who spoke to the Post said. “I think they thought it would put pressure on those communities to understand, I guess, a different perspective on why you need more immigration money for detention beds.”’

As the weekend tolled in, Trump doubled down and confirmed the insidious plan, tweeting:

The move would, without a doubt be legally challenged and has also seen pushback from every direction as well as from both sides of the aisle. On Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had this to say:

‘”It’s just another notion that is unworthy of the presidency of the United States and disrespectful of the challenges that we face as a country, as a people, to address who we are: a nation of immigrants,”‘

Per the Daily NewsMississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson, the Democratic chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, drew a line between Trump’s retaliatory sanctuary proposal and the DHS staff shakeup, saying they show the administration’s “reckless” agenda isn’t about “keeping the country safe, but about partisan politics.”

New York’s Daily News released the impactful cover and story on Saturday. The message was well-received and made clear that we live in a country where all are welcome. The state’s mayor, de Blasio said:

‘Trump has yet again proven that the only constant in his immigration policy is cruelty.

‘He uses people like pawns. New York City will always be the ultimate city of immigrants — the president’s empty threats won’t change that.’

Here is the cover, as tweeted by the magazine, in all of her glory:
