Cop Beats Suicidal Man On Camera – Gets Swift Prison Karma (VIDEO)

A police officer is heading to prison after a crime spree that included brutally assaulting a man in a hospital bed who had just attempted suicide. The beating was filmed by another officer who laughed into the camera just before the assault.

That other officer was “arrested the following month on accusations he had filmed McAusland — identified in a criminal complaint only as “Police Officer 1″ — assaulting the patient, whom medical personnel had taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center on March 5 following a suicide attempt,” according to <a href=”https://www.nj.com/passaic-county/2019/03/drug-dealing-nj-cop-who-beat-handcuffed-man-in-hospital-sentenced-to-5-years-in-federal-prison.html” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>NJ.com</a>.

Their report states what former officer Ruben McAusland, 27, did to the mentally ill man:

<p class=”article__paragraph”>”The fire department took the [Victim] to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson and McAusland and another officer met him there.”</p>
<p class=”article__paragraph”>”McAusland first met the man, who was in a wheelchair, in the hospital waiting room. He pushed the man and punched him in the face, Carpenito said.”</p>
<p class=”article__paragraph”>”Later, in the man’s hospital room, McAusland put on a pair of gloves and struck the man twice in the face. The man had multiple facial injuries from the beating, including an eye injury that required surgery.”</p>

McAusland has also, “pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge William H. Walls to stealing crack cocaine and heroin from a crime scene last fall and then selling the drugs in Paterson.”

According to the report, McAusland will spend five years in prison, at the least:
<blockquote>”U.S. District Judge William H. Walls levied the sentence Wednesday in Newark federal court. McAusland will face three years of supervised release and must pay $32,892 in restitution for his role in the assault.”</blockquote>
