This past week, the mainstream media has been giving little to no attention to a scary uprising that is happening in small pockets all around the country; Right-wing militia groups that are more emboldened than ever, attempting to take matters into their own hands.
The latest example is out of Idaho, where the Post-Register has reported that its Republican lieutenant governor was filmed speaking to a crowd at a rally chalked full of right-wing groups; A rally that was held to commemorate Patriot’s Day and had in attendance groups like the Real III Percent.
The acting Lt. Gov., Janice McGeachin, made ample use of her small window of time and opportunity– She was only the state’s acting governor for a few hours this past Friday, while Gov. Brad Little was out of town. With a few hours on hand to play the role of lieutenant governor, she participated in the Revolutionary War battle rally, hosted by the Real III Percent in Idaho.
The group is absolutely terrifying. Just look at this description grabbed from (one variation, there are many websites) their website:
‘Three Percenters intend to maintain their God-given natural rights to liberty and property. History itself, for good or ill, is made by determined minorities. Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed citizens to change the world.’
During the rally at one point, she asked those in the crowd to hold up their right hands and “solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.” Why the call to arms and need for the right-hand-raising ceremony remains to truly be seen or understood.
Check out the video:
While the crowd and overall situation above is pathetic, it should not be misunderstood or swept under a rug. What McGeachin is participating in is creepy. And it was pulled straight from legislature regarding Idaho state’s Militia and Military Affairs (Title 46) and Officers and Enlisted Men (Chapter 2).
According to the editorial board for the Post-Register, the lieutenant governor had the crowd recite “abridged form of the oath outlined in Idaho Code 46-202,” an oath given to members of the Idaho National Guard.
The legislature, in part, reads:
‘The appointment of officers in the national guard shall be temporary until such appointees shall have been federally recognized under the provisions of the national defense act. Any officer so temporarily appointed as an officer of the national guard of this state is hereby authorized to exercise all powers of his office during the time said temporary appointment shall remain in force.’
So why is this woman giving militia National Guard temporary powers? Per Post-Register:
‘McGeachin did this during a brief period during which she was the acting governor because Gov. Brad Little was out of state. Even if the oath she administered as the acting governor has no legal effect, it may well serve to embolden and legitimize a militia movement that has shown a willingness to take up arms against the government.’
So far, the incident has been masked as a part of the Patriot’s Day “celebration,” however with McGeachin’s sketchy and questionable moves just two months ago, most people don’t agree with that assessment.
Here she is, kicking it with some alt-Righters as they throw up White Power hand signs. This new normal is not okay.

If this is any indication on what’s to come, what’s coming will be ugly. Things aren’t getting better and are very likely to get worse.
