Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) stood up before Congress and lied out of both sides of his mouth. He claimed that the Mueller report was settled and done, because Donald Trump’s Roy Cohnesque Attorney General William Barr said no collusion. Of course, Barr and McConnell know that the president has done everything within his power to prevent the man behind the Mueller report, Special Counsel Robert Mueller, from speaking. Did McConnell ever get his.

The Kentucky senator made fun of the Democrats for “awakening to the dangers of Russian aggression.” Then, he continued speaking about President Barack Obama:

‘Maybe stronger leadership would have left the Kremlin less emboldened. Maybe tampering with our democracy wouldn’t have seemed so very tempting.’

Senator Warren hit the majority leader where it hurt, saying “That’s wrong:”

‘.@SenWarren: “Our Constitution is built on separation of powers, precisely to prevent a dictator from taking control… If any other human had done what’s documented in Mueller report, they’d be arrested. [McConnell] doesn’t want to consider mountain of evidence. That’s wrong” ? ‘

Clearly, the majority leader twisted the message about evidence of collusion in the Mueller report. The special counsel noted that there was ample evidence supporting collusion. Then, McConnell falsely claimed the Democrats were focusing all of their anger over losing in 2016 against Barr:

‘For 2 years, the Democratic Party held out hope the legal system would undo their loss in 2016. They refused to make peace with the people’s choice, but the American people elected this president.’

Warren read directly from the Mueller Report to slam McConnell about POTUS “He’s not above the law:”

‘WARREN: “That’s over 600 former prosecutors saying that if we were talking about anyone other than POTUS, they’d be prosecuted for obstruction…the only mechanism to hold POTUS accountable & to ensure he’s not above the law is for Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings.’

She continued holding McConnell against the wall:

‘WARREN: “We are a govt that works by separation of powers. We are not a govt that circles the wagon around a leader…the Mueller report clearly constitutes adequate information to begin impeachment proceedings in the House…no matters how many times Republicans wish that away”‘

Then, the Massachusetts senator ended with this knock-out punch:

‘.@SenWarren concludes with this: “This is not about politics. This is about the Constitution. We took an oath not to try to protect Donald Trump, we took an oath to protect the Constitution. And the way we do that is we begin impeachment proceedings now against this president.”‘
