Obama-Appointed Judge Rules Against Trump, Donald Goes On A Tirade

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta, an Obama appointee, upheld a subpoena by House Democrats requesting Trump’s financial records.

“We will appeal it,” Trump said this afternoon, before leaving for one of his “I’m President and you’re not” MAGA rallies in Pennsylvania. He called the judge’s ruling “crazy” and then whined about him because he was appointed by President Obama.

In his ruling, Mehta found that the House Oversight and Reform Committee had very valid reasons for wanting to see Trump’s financial records, regardless of whether or not some of these records might be from a time before Trump was “president.”

Of course, Trump seems to think he’s above the law here, and he and his attorneys claim that Democrats are just wasting the courts’ time by trying to dig up dirt on him because they are mad about the Mueller Report.

‘The Democrats were very upset with the Mueller report, as perhaps they should be, but, I mean, the country is very happy about it. And they’re trying to get a redo or a do-over, and you can’t do that.’

But the actual reason lawmakers want Trump’s records is because they have a very solid case against him for conflicts of interest with foreign governments (Russia) and for violating the Emoluments Clause. If Russia, or any foreign government, is able to exert influence over “the president,” then the Democrats can prove that Trump has violated the Constitution. It stands to reason that this may be a case for impeachment, but it remains to be seen what Democrats will do with this information once they have it.
