‘U.S. Senator Jerry Moran is recovering in the hospital after he fell on Camelback Mountain in Phoenix on Thursday morning.’

Moran was in the area of Camelback Mountain on official business, planning to meet with the Drug Enforcement Agency about issues at the southern border. The senator was tranferred to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition. Representatives for the lawmaker said that he is in good spirits and expects to return to work on Friday.

Sen. Moran’s name has become most well-known lately for his opposition to Trump’s trade war. Newsweek reports that Moran wrote a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculature’s Sonny Perdue on May 20 explaining why Trump’s tariffs on China is hurting farmers in his state.

‘Kansas farmers’ and ranchers’ ability to earn a living depends on selling the food and fiber they group around the world. Without exports, the question becomes: What 48 percent of wheat acres do we no longer plant in Kansas?
