The president’s ego is a pretty delicate thing. He puts its fragility on full display every time he opens his mouth, unfortunately. And also unfortunate, he isn’t even aware of how transparent his behavior is. The hot mess express that is the Trump Administration is known for worrying about things like crowd size and ratings. Everything has to be bigly, otherwise, it’s just fake news.
Which is exactly what the president will say when he hears about the ratings his ABC interview with George Stephanopoulos got. According to reports late Monday, the interview got only 3.91 million views, which is about the same action they regularly scheduled program gets in that time slot.
What is that regularly scheduled program, you might ask?
FAMILY F*CKING FUED
Trump’s interview came in third for the Sunday night time slot behind the U.S. Open, which got 7.29 million views, and 60 minutes, which got 4.67 million.
Trump is surely going to lose his mind. He got over a million less views than a show that has run every single week since 1968 after shamelessly plugging the hell out of his ABC interview on his Twitter page.
Trump acted like an ass, as per the usual, during the interview, but despite the backlash that came from him bullying a much smaller Stephanopoulos, Trump defended his behavior by saying this on Twitter:
“Think I will do many more Network Interviews, as I did in 2016, in order to get the word out that no President has done what I have in the first 2 1/2 years of his Presidency, including the fact that we have one of the best Economies in the history of our Country. It is called Earned Media. In any event, enjoy the show!”
