Ivanka Trump calls herself the “First Daughter,” and she has been competing with her little brother, Donald Trump, Jr. for the role of the next president of these United States. She is a tough competitor. Take the time she tried to get her little sister, Tiffany Trump, kick out of the family fortune. Yet, Ivanka may have a big problem standing in her way.

She sent off this tweet, implicating herself in a violation of the law:

Four years ago today, I introduced my father

@realDonaldTrump

when he launched a Campaign that would forever change America. Because of his courage, Americans are safer and more prosperous…and the best is yet to come! Happy Father’s Day!’

Watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), filed a complaint against her with the Office of Special Counsel (OSC). It asserted that Ivanka Trump, who is an adviser to the president, has violated the Hatch Act. This act says that no federal employee can participate in elections while they are working in their federal role.

CREW listed as examples to support its case a number of tweets. For example, she was at her father’s 2020 campaign kick-off, beneath a “Make America Great Again” banner. She tweeted “the best is yet to come.”

The watchdog group noted that Ivanka Trump has been using her federal Twitter account to retweet numerous “partisan political posts” beginning in March 2018. Executive Director to CREW Noah Bookbinder said:

‘It has become clear that this rampant abuse of public office is not a problem of ‘one bad apple’ but rather a key feature of the Trump White House. By blatantly using her office for politics right after the Office of Special Counsel recommended her colleague be fired for repeatedly acting similarly, Ivanka Trump has basically thumbed her nose at the OSC and the rule of law. Never before have we witnessed this level of illegal politicized behavior, and it must not be allowed to continue.’

The White House has been blowing off ethical considerations left and right.  Counsel to the president Kellyanne Conway has been cited with the same issue. The OSC, which is not in the same office as former special counsel Robert Muller III, requested that Donald Trump removed Conway from office due to her many violations of the Hatch Act.

CREW filed a 17-page report against Conway showing the multiple times that she had broken this law:

‘…by disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in her official capacity during television interviews and on social media” and called on the president to oust her “immediately.’

Special Counsel Henry Kerner wrote:

‘As a highly visible member of the administration, Ms. Conway’s violations, if left unpunished, would send a message to all federal employees that they need not abide by the Hatch Act’s restrictions. Her actions thus erode the principal foundation of our democratic system — the rule of law.’

Trump rejected the request. However, the House Oversight and Reform Committee indicated that it will have a hearing over Conway’s alleged violations next month.

CREW sent the following as the initial section of its complaint against the president’s daughter:
