Earlier today Donald Trump tweeted an announcement that has his base, and some Republicans in general, very upset and feeling let-down.

‘At the request of Democrats, I have delayed the Illegal Immigration Removal Process (Deportation) for two weeks to see if the Democrats and Republicans can get together and work out a solution to the Asylum and Loophole problems at the Southern Border. If not, Deportations start!’

For those who didn’t catch the news, or have forgotten since Trump tweets multiple times in a day, on June 17th last week he announced his plans for a massive sweep, performed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Here is the original tweet that he walked back from today:

‘Next week ICE will begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States. They will be removed as fast as they come in. Mexico, using their strong immigration laws, is doing a very good job of stopping people long before they get to our Southern Border. Guatemala is getting ready to sign a Safe-Third Agreement. The only ones who won’t do anything are the Democrats in Congress. They must vote to get rid of the loopholes, and fix asylum! If so, Border Crisis will end quickly!’

Per NBC News, the real truth behind the new tweet from today is not that the move was made because of a request from the Democrats, rather NBC states that the plans for the large-scale roundup were halted because the information leaked to the media. Furthermore, officials from the Department of Homeland Security said that the ICE did not have plans in place for how to detain and hold 2,000 immigrant families, after they were arrested and before they get deported.

Nancy Pelosi made a phone call to Trump on Friday night, asking him to drop the plans altogether. Today, she released a statement speaking to leaders of faith-based and community organizations. She stated in part:

‘Families belong together. These families are hard-working members of our communities and our country. The President’s action makes no distinction between a status violation and committing a serious crime.

‘Yesterday, the President spoke about the importance of avoiding the collateral damage of 150 lives in Iran. I would hope he would apply that same value to avoiding the collateral damage to tens of thousands of children who are frightened by his actions.’

All of these developments have Trump’s base in a tizzy. Today on social media, his base hit back, some even suggesting that the massive ICE raid should begin with his wife, First Lady Melania Trump. Ouch.

Here are some of the best ex-Trump supporter’s tweets:

Well, so much for #Trump2020. Soon, his base may start tweeting out this tweet:
