Oh, Kellyanne. Poor Kellyanne.
Mrs. Conway has been under fire recently after the United States Office of Special Counsel recommended that that she be fired from her position for multiple instances of violating the Hatch Act.
This week will provide for the showdown, as the House Oversight Committee will hold a vote on this-coming Wednesday to authorize a subpoena for the disgruntled and disgraced White House counselor.
‘The Hatch Act bars federal employees from engaging in political activity that could influence the results of an election while operating in their official capacity. The Office of Special Counsel, a civil service watchdog, determined earlier this month that Conway violated the Hatch Act by “disparaging Democratic presidential candidates while speaking in an official capacity during television interviews and on social media,” and recommended she be removed from office.’
As if Donald Trump’s insisting that he won’t relieve Kellyanne from her job, now she is making the media rounds, whining about how her Free Speech rights are being run through the mud.
Trump on the violation:
‘It really sounds to me like a free-speech thing. It doesn’t sound fair. No, I’m not going to fire her, I think she’s a tremendous person, tremendous spokesperson.
‘They have tried to take away her speech and I think you’re entitled to free speech in the country.’
Politico said in their reporting on June 14 that the U.S. Office of Special Counsel sent a request to Trump, stating that Conway had repeatedly violated the Hatch Act when she criticized Democratic presidential candidates while speaking as a White House official; an official ‘capacity’ and with a major platform. This is illegal and has nothing to do with one’s “rights.”
Can you imagine being reprimanded at work for something, violating a policy that is in writing we’ll say, and then slamming yourself down on the ground like a toddler and declaring to your job that you’re Free Speech rights are being violated? They’d laugh and gladly send you on your way home. The White House should be no different than a regular job which sets forth employee rules, regulations and policies.
This morning, she was on Fox & Friends (obviously). Check out the video below.
‘IT’D BE GOOD IF EVERYBODY HAD A QUICK TUTORIAL ON THE HATCH ACT.
‘IT’S NOT EVEN CLEAR TO US HERE AT THE WHITE HOUSE (WHAT IT IS AND WHAT IT IS NOT).’
What? So she wants us to educate ourselves and then explains that the White House has no idea what it even states? Is this reality?
‘Partisan political activities are those activities directed at the success or failure of a political party, candidate for partisan political office, or partisan political group. While most Federal employees are permitted to take an active part in partisan political management and partisan political campaigns, the Hatch Act does prohibit certain participation by all Federal employees. Federal employees may not seek public office in partisan elections, use their official title or authority when engaging in political activity, solicit or receive contributions for partisan political candidates or groups, and engage in political activity while on duty. ‘
Finding this clearly-defined information was not hard and took about .3 seconds.
Then, it gets better. She states:
‘The Hatch Act means you can’t advocate for or against the election of an individual. And if I’m talking about the failures of Obama-Bidencare, if I’m talking about the fact that 28 million Americans have no health insurance, that’s a fact! If I’m quoting what some of the candidates are saying about the other candidates, I’m just repeating the news to you!
‘You know what they’re mad about? They want to put a big roll of masking tape over my mouth!’
Yo, Kellyanne. You’re violating the Hatch Act right now. And no, we don’t want anything to do with masking tape. We want you to resign and then go into a deep, dark hole.
