Beloved former President Jimmy Carter has been a thorn in the side of the new guy in office since Trump first announced he was running for the office of president. Trump avoids shooting back at Carter, undoubtedly because of his age, but you just know it eats away at The Donald every time Jimmy Carter makes headlines.
And it looks like that’s what he’s done again.
Friday, Carter went fully bold when he called the new president illegitimate, saying he only won the election because it was hacked by the Russians.
“There’s no doubt that the Russians did interfere in the elections and I think the interference, although not yet quantified, if fully investigated would show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016.”
“He lost the election and he was put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf.”
He was then asked in Trump was an illegitimate president, to which Carter replied:
“Based on what I just said, which I can’t retract.”

The responses CSPAN got on their tweet were reminiscent of a better, simpler time when Americans weren’t terrified out of their wits about not being able to feed their children paired with the threat of nuclear war.
