A Miss Michagan winner in the World America beauty pagaent who goes by the name @politicalkathy on Twitter announced that she had been stripped of her crown by the association because of her conservative views and support of Donald Trump. Just like most Trump supporters, there was a lot of underlying context that she convienantly failed to mention.

Zhu pushed the idea that she was stripped of her crown after refusing to try on a hijab at a booth during National Hijab Day, an event sponsored by Muslim organizations at her university. Zhu says she “politely declined” and was ousted from the organization and stripped of her crown. She never mentioned that she described the incident on her Twitter account by denigrating an entire religion and accusing them of trying to indoctrinate her into accepting oppression.
Zhu later deleted that tweet, as well as others that brought her into the limelight and the good graces of the MAGA crowd.
The Detroit Free Press reports that:
‘Kathy Zhu, a University of Michigan student, was dismissed Thursday as a Miss World America pageant participant when the organization described the content of her social media as “offensive, insensitive and inappropriate.” according to a letter from the pageant that she posted on her Twitter account.’
Zhu is now making a name for herself as the poster girl of oppression by appearing on Fox News to repeat the false story about being ousted for not trying on a hijab. The beauty pagaent winner explained to The Detroit Free Press that she was simply trying to shine a spotlight on women’s oppression by Islam, something “nobody” talks about.
‘I said that it was (getting women used to) being oppressed because there are so many women in Middle Eastern countries that are being punished and stoned for refusing to wear a hijab. Nobody is talking about that in the West because all they see is everyone being at peace, but that is the beauty of America.’
Another tweet that was noted by the organization as the rest for her ousting involved a criticism of those who really do suffer oppression in this country at the hands of law enforcement in disproportionate numbers: black Americans. Zhu, in all her infinite wisdom, explained in a tweet that black people really have no right to complain because they are sometimes violent toward one another (she didn’t mention that it was at a comparable rate to white people), which makes it perfectly okay for police to shoot and kill unarmed black people in the streets.
As a Chinese-American, Zhu insists that she cannot be labeled racist. However, she’s sure wholeheartedly embraced the ideologies of the racist crowd in America.
‘This applies for every community. If there is a problem, fix things in your own community before lashing out at others and trying to find an issue there. That is all I wanted to say. It is not a problem against black people. Obviously I am not racist or stuff like that.’
