President Donald Trump is still upset that Robert Mueller is testifying before Congress this Wednesday about his work as special counsel overseeing the Justice Department’s arm of the Russia investigation — and that’s putting it lightly. What began many months ago as Trump trying to keep a lid on his unrest and letting Mueller’s Russia probe continue without at least any public interference has turned into the president this Wednesday raging about the supposedly failing reputation of the widely respected, former longtime FBI director Mueller and deriding House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) as “#ShiftySchiff.” How on earth does Trump expect anyone outside perhaps his most diehard base of supporters to take him seriously? What does he think he’s trying to do — win a chili cook-off? It’s that outlandish for the president of the United States to be behaving this way!
After Mueller concluded three hours or so of testimony before the House Judiciary Committee and prepared to go before the intel panel, Trump railed on Twitter:
‘I would like to thank the Democrats for holding this morning’s hearing. Now, after 3 hours, Robert Mueller has to subject himself to #ShiftySchiff – an Embarrassment to our Country!’
Remember — Adam Schiff isn’t the one who stood before the United Nations and drew laughs by claiming to have done more for the United States than possibly any other president ever. That was Donald Trump, among many other available examples of him becoming a literal laughingstock around the world. Yet, he still finds it in himself to call Schiff the embarrassment.
Besides his jab about Schiff, Trump also shared some very selectively chosen clips of Republican members of Congress parading supposed “gotcha!” moments during their turns questioning Mueller. He also posted some derogatory quotes about Mueller from Fox News and shared thoughts from a Twitter account going by “@TheRightMelissa” that might as well be called “@TrumpTrumpTrumpy4000EagleBot” thanks to the way it presents itself. This is how the current president of the United States is again spending his time — scouring Fox News and Twitter and complaining about what he finds.
