Pelosi Makes Impeachment Announcement That Has Half The Country Livid

Following Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony in front of the House Judiciary and House Intelligence Committees, the calls for an impeachment inquiry against a lying, criminal president who attempted to obstruct justice a total of 10 times has grown. With several pending investigations into Trump, his businesses, his inauguration, and his conflicts due to ties with foreign adversaries, however, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) feels that enough evidence is still to come to make the case for impeachment much stronger when the time is right.

It’s a complex and often maddening debate. While it is clear in every way that Trump is guilty of numerous crimes while in office, as his attempts to obstruct justice are no less illegal simply because they were unsuccessful, Democrats only get one shot to make charges against him stick and an impeachment hearing count. With pending investigations likely to turn up even more evidence against Trump, Pelosi feels that, strategically, it’s worth waiting.

According to NBC News:

‘“No, I’m not trying to run out the clock,” Pelosi said at her final weekly press conference before she departs Washington for the House’s six-week summer recess.

‘Asked how long the Democrats’ court fight might take, Pelosi would not lay out a timeline. “We will proceed when we have what we need to proceed — not one day sooner,” she said.’

Trump has been on a paranoid and explosive rant since the testimony that Mueller presented to Congress, insisting that Democrats are just out to get him, lying to make him look bad, and that he’s somehow the victim in all this. Even though Trump appearances in other countries have been caught on camera as foreign leaders and dignitaries laughed at his dishonest and braggadocios rhetoric, Trump still insists that it’s the Democrats who are being laughed at.

‘”These people are clowns,” he said. “The Democrats are being laughed at all over the world. I watched Nancy Pelosi tried to get through that with the performance that Robert Mueller put on where I don’t think he ever read the agreement, or document….”

‘”There’s no collusion, there’s no obstruction. It’s a disgrace,” said Trump, who said that Congress should look into a book deal made by former President Obama, rather than investigate him, which he said they were doing “for political reasons.”‘

Trump, who insists he’s the innocent party in all this, is also fighting to suppress his tax returns, business records, and aides from speaking to investigators. He’s ignored subpoenas and repeated the same lies about the investigations, even calling them “treasonous” while insisting that Obama’s book deal, which came well after he left office, should be investigated. Meanwhile, Democrats are gearing up for a contentious election in 2020.

‘Democrats are seeking to enforce subpoenas in court for certain documents in their investigation, as well as testimony from witnesses, all of which the administration has not complied with. This includes requests for six years of the president’s tax returns.

‘“Everybody has the liberty and the luxury to espouse their own position and to criticize me for trying to go down the path in the most determined, positive way,” she said. “Again, their advocacy for impeachment only gives me leverage.”’
