Over the past month, Trump has spent a large portion of his time attacking Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN), along with two other highly respected Congresswomen of color.
In case you missed it:
He’s clearly got it out for these women, and now it seems as if the two who REALLY make him angry are Omar Ilhan and Rashida Tlaib — incidentally, Omar and Tlaib are both Muslim. We don’t want to say that this is what drives Trump’s hatred towards them, but he’s really making it difficult to deny these days, especially since it was reported earlier on Saturday that he told advisers that Israel should bar entry to those two Congresswomen.
According to Axios, Trump reportedly said that if they want to boycott Israel, “then Israel should boycott them.” Their report states:
‘President Trump has told advisers he thinks Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should use Israel’s anti-boycott law to bar Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) from entering Israel, according to three sources familiar with the situation.
‘What he’s saying: Trump’s private views have reached the top level of the Israeli government. But Trump denies, through White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, ever giving any kind of directive to the Israelis. “The Israeli government can do what they want. It’s fake news,” Grisham said on Saturday.’
All of this comes ahead of Omar and Tlaib’s scheduled visit to Israel on Aug. 18. Reports now say that according to Israeli officials, this date may change.
Despite what Trump’s press secretary said, that this report is “fake news,” when Axios asked for comment from Israeli officials, they did not deny that Trump made this statement but refrained from commenting saying that the issue was very sensitive and they were not allowed to talk about it. It seems to me that if he hadn’t said it, they’d be happy to tell Axios that, but they didn’t…
So far, Trump hasn’t addressed this claim personally, but we’ll keep you updated.
