Donald Trump’s presidential re-election campaign went after freshman Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) with this message “this is our country, not theirs.” He means that people of color, such as Ocasio-Cortez and her other three Squad members are not welcome in POTUS’ white U.S. He also frequently attacks the first two Muslim women ever elected to the House. It gets much worse.
Trump’s verbal attacks demanded the Squad members go back to “the crime-infested” countries they came from appeared to be working. Even though all of the outspoken women are U.S. against violence, the president has been intentionally inciting his followers to action.
Another member of the Squad said that her life was in danger now. Freshman Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) tweeted:
‘I hate that we live in a world where you have to be protected from fellow humans. I hated it as a child living through war and I hate it now. But until deranged people like this stop threatening my life and the lives of others, I have to accept the reality of having security.’
The anonymous individual typed this threat claiming:
‘…a very capable person with a very big ‘Gun’ planned to shoot her at the Minnesota State Fair.’
This threat showed up hours after Senate candidate Roy Moore (R-AL) said Omar should “go back to Somalia.” However, she has been a naturalized U.S. citizen longer than the commander-in-chief’s wife, First Lady Melania Trump. Omar’s parents fled war-torn Somalia when she was young.
The representative included a photo of the death threat she had just received. The angry person wrote:
‘…you will not being going back to Washington, your life will end before your “Vacation” ends (and you) won’t die alone…a very capable person with a very big “Gun”(could shoot her out at the Minnesota State Fair). They say we can’t get the Somali Stink out of the clean Minnesota air, but we’re going to enjoy the adventure.’
A spokesperson for Omar said, according to The Washington Post:
‘…the threat has been reported to law enforcement and they are investigating.’
Moore picked up on Trump’s hate-filled words and tweeted:
‘President Trump was right, she should go back to Somalia from whence she came.’
The former senator lost his bid for the Senate in 2017 after:
‘…more than half a dozen women came forward with decades-old sexual misconduct allegations against him, detailing inappropriate interactions that allegedly occurred when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s. Moore has denied the allegations.’
Omar also tweeted about the Alabama Republican Party. It had called for a resolution that would make her leave the House of Representatives. The Minnesota woman responded that she had been:
‘…elected with 78% of the vote by the people of Minnesota’s 5th District, not the Alabama Republican Party. Sorry, @ALGOPHQ, but this is a representative democracy.’
