Republican ‘Hero’ Caught On Tape Using N-Word

The right wing keeps falling all over itself as the machine of American politics chugs towards the next rounds of elections. Now, a right-wing candidate to be the next governor of Louisiana has been caught on tape freely using the n-word in a convoluted attempt to respond to an irate caller who targeted a radio show while he was on-the-air. The caller had derided Gary Landrieu as a “piece of shit,” and Landrieu — who’s not formally affiliated with a major party but is running on policy ideas like sending immigrants “back to where they came from” — responded with a rambling, tough guy rant about how he’d learned to stand up to “bullies” ever since as a child, he’d been supposedly derided as a “[n-word] lover.”

In some strange display of machismo, Landrieu had rambled in response to the irritated caller:

‘You know what growing up in a family of 10 means? You can’t hurt my feelings because I don’t have any. You’re entitled to your opinion. That’s what makes America great. You’re free to do what you want, and say what you want, and think what you want, but you know what? I’m free to do and say what I want to do, too. You do that to my face, you’re going to get slapped in the mouth. Let me tell you, when I was a kid we learned about protecting ourselves and defending ourselves because we were called a lot of ugly names as children. As an eight-year-old, they called me, ‘Oh, there’s the [n-word] lovers right there.’

The incident unfolded on the radio show “The Right Chicks” broadcasting on New Orleans’ WGSO 990 AM radio station. After Landrieu’s outburst, co-host Michelle Hirstius shouted out that he “can’t curse” — although it got out anyway.

Check it out:

Does he think that the people of Louisiana are supposed to be what, reassured by him getting on a public radio show and threatening to slap someone in the mouth for telling him off? Imagine if, as governor, he slapped a protester in the mouth. All hell would break loose.

Landrieu is a cousin of former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, and he has run for public office numerous times before but failed each time. This time around, he’s going up against incumbent Democrat John Bel Edwards and his primary Republican challenger, Ralph Abraham. In numerous recent polls, the race showed up as pretty close although maintaining a definite lean Edwards’s direction — and Landrieu didn’t even register. So in other words, his tough guy stance of “I can say the n-word on the radio if I want” or whatever isn’t exactly getting him anywhere.

The race will actually be finishing up in fall 2019, as opposed to alongside the rest of the elections set for 2020.

When 2020 does roll around, besides the presidential race in which numerous leading Democrats continue to register winning leading margins in polled support against Trump, a number of high-profile governor and Senate races will also be unfolding. Democrats hope to hang onto the U.S. House and take control of the U.S. Senate too, besides angling for the White House.
