Even as threats bear down on the United States ranging from the massive Hurricane Dorian to economic tension with major global powers, President Donald Trump just keeps tweeting. This Saturday morning, he got on Twitter and tweeted or retweeted literally dozens of messages, the majority of which were in support of various GOP Senators from around the country. When he got to his own thoughts, he again proved obsessed with former FBI Director James Comey — an figure who’s been out of government for two years and has been found to have broken no laws.
He also addressed the case of his recently departed personal assistant Madeline Westerhout, who left the White House under internal pressure after sharing “intimate details” of the president’s family with journalists. Trump tried to make a show of no hard feelings, although who knows what’s really going on behind the scenes?
Besides posting a quote claiming that Comey’s distribution of memos chronicling interactions with Trump “could be (is)” a violation of the Espionage Act, Trump railed:
‘I was right about Comey, CROOKED COP!’
Trump also offered some more of his favorite vague platitudes about the supposed greatness of himself and his agenda, railing (and including a hilarious typo referring to Sean Hannity as a “shoe” instead of “show”):
‘Has anyone noticed that the top shows on @foxnews and cable ratings are those that are Fair (or great) to your favorite President, me! Congratulations to @seanhannity for being the number one shoe on Cable Television!.. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, which is happening, and then, KEEP AMERICA GREAT!’
As for Westerhout, he added:
‘While Madeleine Westerhout has a fully enforceable confidentiality agreement, she is a very good person and I don’t think there would ever be reason to use it. She called me yesterday to apologize, had a bad night. I fully understood and forgave her!’
Westerhout had supposedly told reporters that the president avoided being photographed with his daughter Tiffany because he thought she looked fat.
