The next covfefe has potentially arrived. Although not quite as confounding as that strange jumble of letters that remained up on President Donald Trump’s personal Twitter feed overnight one time, he’s now made another high-profile typo on the platform that’s sure to attract a lot of attention. Early Saturday morning, he accidentally called Fox News host Sean Hannity a shoe — not an exaggeration. He was trying to praise Hannity’s “show” for landing high ratings while also proving consistently in Trump’s favor. But it didn’t go so well.
In the midst of a dozens of tweets-long morning Twitter bender, Trump paused to ponder the future of Fox News, whose often close relationship with the president has been on rocky ground lately. Trump just refuses to take pretty much any even possibly “negative” coverage, no matter the source. It’s like he’s an animal afraid of the light or something — anyway, he posted, with no clear connection to the tweets that came immediately before or after:
‘Has anyone noticed that the top shows on @foxnews and cable ratings are those that are Fair (or great) to your favorite President, me! Congratulations to @seanhannity for being the number one shoe on Cable Television!’
Amazing. Considering Hannity’s track record of utter deference to the president, if he even acknowledges the typo, he’ll likely dream about getting “number one shoe” tattooed across his forehead or something.
Hannity has even appeared on a Trump rally stage at one point, which unfolded before the 2018 midterm elections — just in case you needed one last confirmation that journalistic integrity had flown out the window in his case.
