Outrage Erupts After Trump Turns 9/11 Speech Into Self Praising PR

This week, the task of commemorating the 9/11 terror attacks as president of the United States fell to Donald Trump, someone who’s not exactly known for his knack in bringing people together. At a morning Pentagon event in remembrance of the horror where he spoke, his remarks centered at times not on some overarching perspective that the country at large could get behind. Instead, the main figure in his story was none other than himself — which even lands especially out of place considering the conflicting and lie-riddled stories he’s told in the past about his perspective on that day. This time, he recounted in vivid detail the television he was supposedly watching — because of course he did!

Few, if any care or find any inspiration in Trump telling us all about how he got torn away from his regularly scheduled television viewing because of the 9/11 terror attacks. Still, he railed:

‘It was a day filled with shock, horror, sorrow, and righteous fury. I vividly remembered when I first heard the news. I was sitting at home watching a major business television show early that morning. Jack Welch, the legendary head of General Electric, was about to be interviewed when all of a sudden they cut away.’

Who cares what interview you missed because of the 9/11 terror attacks, Trump??!? His idea of some kind of unifying, inspirational or something message is sharing how “well I do remember what was on the television at the time…”

He went on:

‘I was looking out of a window from a building in midtown Manhattan directly at the World Trade Center when I saw a second plane at a tremendous speed go into the second tower. It was then that I realized the world was going to change.’

This directly conflicts with a past account of his about what he was doing on 9/11, making the whole thing land as that much more of a mess. As political commentator Edward Hardy noted, Trump has previously claimed that he was in Jersey City at the time of the incident, where he also claimed that he saw people cheering at the onslaught of terror in NYC. This is a lie, considering that never happened.
