When art imitates life, the absurd becomes too funny. Imagine walking into Venice Biennale (Italy) and unexpectedly seeing a chapter out of your own life on display. This happened to an American, but she handled it with grace and best of all, humor.

The first woman to win the 2016 election popular vote, Secretary Hillary Clinton, sat behind a desk reading her emails from a private server for an hour in this surprising art exhibit. Artist Kenneth Goldsmith tweeted, according to The Washington Post:

‘(Clinton) spent an hour yesterday reading her emails at my exhibition of all 62,000 pages of them in Venice.’

The exhibit was entitled HILLARY: The Hillary Clinton Emails. Clinton tweeted:

“Found my emails at the Venice Biennale. Someone alert the House GOP:’

Clinton spoke to the Italian news outlet TGR Veneto at the exhibit. She noted that the uproar over her email:

‘(It was) one of the strangest, most absurd events in American political history. The exhibition is further proof that nothing wrong or controversial can be found on these emails,” she said. “It makes them accessible to everyone antwitter.com/…/1172133647178186752/photo/1d allows everyone to read them. . . . They are just a bunch of boring emails.’

Goldsmith tweeted a video of Clinton:

The artist’s motivation was clear. He wanted to show the world:

‘…for the first time in printed format all the e-mails which, according to WikiLeaks, were sent from the domain clintonemail.com between 2009 and 2013.’

The promotional materials read:

‘The pile of papers is rather unimpressive, rebutting Trump’s efforts to make them monumental. In this way, Goldsmith creates the greatest poem of the 21st century, an anti-monument to the folly of Trump’s heinous smear campaign against Clinton.’

Twitter world spontaneously caught fire after this funny turn of events. Check out some of our favorites below:
