Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing was a textbook script of abusive behavior toward the women senators. They were all Democrats, because the Republicans had no women. Chair of the Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley (R-IA) did not call for decorum, but Kavanaugh is paying for his bad behavior.
An important New York Times article just gave details about Kavanaugh’s sexually abusive behavior at Yale. US Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) will be introducing a House resolution that calls for an impeachment inquiry into the justice, according to The Boston Globe.
During his confirmation hearing, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford gave a courageous testimony of Kavanaugh’s assault upon her when they were both in their teens. She is also an expert witness on sexual abuse. As a result of her testifying, she had to hire security to protect her family from Republican threats.
The Times reported another allegation of sexual abuse. The FBI did not investigate it per the White House orders, even though a number of people involved came forward to them as potential witnesses. The claim was about Deborah Ramirez, a Yale classmate. The article detailed how Kavanaugh exposed himself to her during a drunken party.
The Times reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly wrote the article and authored the upcoming book The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation.
Ramirez lived a sheltered life before coming to Yale, where she was surrounded by more worldly, privileged students. When she was a freshman, she was drinking with classmates when another freshman:
‘Brett Kavanaugh pulled down his pants and thrust his penis at her, prompting her to swat it away and inadvertently touch it. Some of the onlookers, who had been passing around a fake penis earlier in the evening, laughed.’
‘I had gone through high school, I’m the good girl, and now, in one evening, it was all ripped away. ..(It) make it clear I’m not smart.’
A minimum of seven people, which included Ramirez’s mother, knew about Kavanaugh’s behavior toward Ramirez. Max Stier was one of those people. He said:
‘…he saw Mr. Kavanaugh with his pants down at a different drunken dorm party, where friends pushed his penis into the hand of a female student. Mr. Stier, who runs a nonprofit organization in Washington, notified senators and the F.B.I. about this account, but the F.B.I. did not investigate and Mr. Stier has declined to discuss it publicly. We corroborated the story with two officials who have communicated with Mr. Stier; the female student declined to be interviewed and friends say she does not recall the episode.’
During his hearing, Dr. Ford testified that the justice ”
‘… pinned her to a bed, groped her and tried to remove her clothes while covering her mouth.’
He was drunk, and her greatest fear at the time was that he would pass out on top of her and suffocate her. Kavanaugh strongly rejected Ford’s claim.
