President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani is not exactly known for being reserved. Early this Monday morning, he proved his passion for the cause yet again with a series of tweets posted in the middle of the night suggesting former President Barack Obama may have been “in the know” about supposed corruption on the part of the Bidens, including former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter. The idea from Rudy and his comrades is that the Bidens inappropriately personally profited from Joe pressuring Ukrainian authorities to fire a widely believed to be corrupt top prosecutor because that figure had been investigating a company Hunter Biden worked for. There’s no evidence of acted upon conflict of interest — but Giuliani is not deterred. Now, his conspiracy theory even includes other people.
He railed, in part:
‘Did Obama know that his VP, the one he put in charge of giving billions to Ukraine, had a son who was making millions on the board of one of the most corrupt companies in Ukraine. Biden’s boss had stolen $5b from Ukraine and was a fugitive. Did Obama know? Did he approve?.. Bidens’ made big money selling public office. How could Obama have allowed this to happen? Will Dems continue to condone and enable this kind pay-for-play?’
The next stage in this meltdown is probably blaming Obama for the recent attacks on Saudi oil facilities or something. Maybe he’s also behind climate change, they might as well suggest. Maybe he’s the one who founded ISIS (Wait, Trump already said that).
The above tweets from Giuliani started at just after 2 A.M. and continued well into the later morning hours with no more than a three and a half hour break between them. Does he sleep? Why’s he hyped up for hours on end in the middle of the night tweeting angry accusations about Obama? This display is more off-the-rails time-wise than some of the ones Trump himself has put on, and that’s saying something.
As for his accusations — again, there’s still no immediately apparent evidence of wrongdoing. Hunter Biden worked for the company, so he got paid for it. Joe Biden’s pressure to dump the prosecutor was tied to a standing Western foreign policy stance — everybody thought he was corrupt. The allegations fizzle out right away.
