It comes a no surprise that Donald Trump’s Roy Cohnesque Attorney General (AG) William Barr was wrapped up in some of the issues that involved the president’s alleged illegal activity. After all, Barr framed the Mueller Report in such a way that let all of the air out it. No attorney general in recent memory treated Democratic senators with such disdain.
Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jerry Nadler (D-NY) released a tweet urging the president’s henchman to step aside, to recuse himself in the impeachment investigation.
The president repeatedly asked Ukraine’s President Vladimir (Volodymyr) Zelensky to work with Attorney General (AG) Barr and former New York mayor now Trump’s TV attorney Rudy Giuliani.:
‘The President dragged the Attorney General into this mess. At a minimum, AG Barr must recuse himself until we get to the bottom of this matter. #UkraineTranscript.’
The New York Times connected Barr to the impeachable offenses via the just-released memo of the president’s phone call summary:
‘Breaking News: The White House released the transcript of President Trump’s call with the leader of Ukraine. The transcript shows Trump urged Ukraine’s leader to contact Attorney General William Barr about opening an inquiry tied to Joe Biden.’
POTUS’ goal was to reopen investigations into the son of the man Trump attorney has felt was his greatest threat to the presidency, former vice president Joe Biden. He wanted dirt on Biden, fodder for the 2020 presidential election.
