President Donald Trump’s affinity for golf is well-documented at this point. It’s one of the most stable parts of his administration, which has proven more often marked by features like record high staff turnover rates. This Sunday, as House Democrats closed in with a rapidly intensifying formal impeachment inquiry, he went golfing again. This time, according to MSNBC’s Kyle Griffin and others, he went out to the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, which is right in the D.C. area. He was apparently met by protests including a woman blowing an actual whistle in honor of the whistleblower who recently revealed details of his push to get Ukraine to meddle in the 2020 elections via dropping dirt on an opponent.
Griffin tweeted:
‘According to the pool report, Trump has arrived at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, VA. This is Trump’s 234th day at a Trump golf club and 307th day at a Trump property as president.’
In all, Trump has only been in office 982 days including this Sunday. That means that he’s spent just about a third of his entire presidency at a property with his own name on it for at least part of the day. Just under a fourth of his presidency up to this point has been spent, more specifically, at a golf course with his name on it.
A later pool report goes on:
‘A couple protesters stood outside the golf club. One held a sign reading “TRAITOR.” Another, held by a woman repeatedly blowing a literal whistle, read “I [love] whistleblowers.”‘
Thank you, anonymous protester.
He was greeted by an actual whistleblower. Genius. #TraitorInChief #OrangeCrush pic.twitter.com/sPIaUV1pxw
