President Donald Trump is… let’s just say not having a good day. Or week. Or… time in office. As this Wednesday morning proceeded, he again very publicly flipped out over House Democrats daring to investigate his belligerent behavior. Recently, they made those various investigations come under the heading of a formal impeachment inquiry, and in response, now Trump is again insisting that — among other things — House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) should resign for a crime that he did not commit and doesn’t exist.
Trump railed, using what would be a gross understatement to call hyperbole:
‘Congressman Adam Schiff should resign for the Crime of, after reading a transcript of my conversation with the President of Ukraine (it was perfect), fraudulently fabricating a statement of the President of the United States and reading it to Congress, as though mine! He is sick!’
The point that Trump is referencing consisted of Schiff summarizing the gist of the record that the Trump White House itself released covering a phone conversation Trump had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which he sought to get the Ukrainians to dig up dirt on the Bidens. Schiff communicated this in his summary, but apparently, the president of the United States is unfamiliar with the concept of a summary and thinks it’s a crime worthy of treason charges — that’s not an exaggeration. Trump’s previously said Schiff should be charged with treason for daring to… make a summary. Talk about a fragile ego.
Wednesday morning, Trump also tried to again defend the interactions with Zelensky at the core of the scandal, turning from calling them “perfect” to now saying all he did was have a “very good conversation.” Yeah, sure. We can all see the call record, in which — no matter what pedantic wars Trump wants to engage in like some kind of cornered animal — he clearly and repeatedly asks the Ukrainians to look into faked corruption allegations against the Bidens.
During that call, Trump went so far off the rails that he asked Ukraine to look for emails that were at one point lost from Hillary Clinton’s email server. There is absolutely zero evidence in reality to suggest that anything having to do with Clinton emails has anything to do with Ukraine.
In the middle of the above rant, Trump veered to call a report that he wanted a moat — which he originally spelled as moot — at the southern border inaccurate, but the guy who’s lied well over 10,000 times in office isn’t exactly a trustworthy source here.
Eventually, Trump kept going… and going… and going…
