We are watching the mental unraveling of the president of the United States in real time. Wednesday morning, he has posted a dozen tweets and counting (and retweeted a few things), and one of the later ones is a post in which he literally curses about ongoing House Democratic investigation into his behavior. In other words, the state of the U.S. has reached the point that the president of the United States is spending hours and hours on end during his Wednesday morning stewing to the point of getting on Twitter to very publicly curse in front of the whole world. He’s losing it…
The tweet in question reads:
‘The Do Nothing Democrats should be focused on building up our Country, not wasting everyone’s time and energy on BULLSHIT, which is what they have been doing ever since I got overwhelmingly elected in 2016, 223-306. Get a better candidate this time, you’ll need it!’
It’s been almost three years since the 2016 elections. Three years worth of things have happened since then, including of course all the twists and turns that Trump personally has enacted. Yet, he is still fixated on the electoral college vote totals from 2016 — which, just to be clear, do not accurately represent public sentiment. As has been noted many times, Trump lost the popular vote by millions, but he won enough distinct, densely populated Midwestern areas that he managed a winning electoral college margin.
Trump has been losing it most recently — as has been amply cited by now — over Democrats launching a formal impeachment inquiry against him, which House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) held a press conference about early this Wednesday. Other, uh, highlights of his public mental collapse surrounding these developments include his insistence that House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) summarizing a record of a phone conversation had amounts to treason because Schiff didn’t read the record aloud, word-for-word.
It’s not treason, but (among other things) Trump railed this week anyway:
‘Adam Schiff should only be so lucky to have the brains, honor and strength of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. For a lowlife like Schiff, who completely fabricated my words and read them to Congress as though they were said by me, to demean a First in Class at West Point, is SAD!’
